Pharmacy Technician School Candidates Have an Affordable Option ; Pharmacy Technician Online Program with Mentorship Offered by Turn-A-Tech.
Turn-A-Tech Pharmacy Technician Online Training Prgram offers an alternative to Pharmacy Technician School and saves candidates and pharmacy technician employers time and money.
NEW YORK, NY, October 24, 2011 /Medical PR News/ -- Although, many pharmacy technicians receive informal on-the-job training, most employers prefer to hire candidates who have some academic instruction or those are certified; those that have passed either the PTCB or the ExCPT national certification exam.
Pharmacy technician education and training programs offer a variety of types of instruction. There are the traditional classroom and laboratory style programs offered by the military, some hospitals, proprietary schools, vocational or technical colleges, community colleges.
Today there are also many convenient conventional programs which offer online education and training programs, these courses are often more concise and more affordable. Some can be completed in as little as 12 weeks.
Both the classroom style and the distant learning programs are equally acceptable in most states and by most employers. Pharmacy technician candidates should refer to the following link for the specific state requirements. http://turnatech.com/pharmacy-technician-exam
Most programs offer topics including medical and pharmaceutical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, pharmaceutical techniques, and pharmacy law and ethics. The courses also cover the top 200 medication names, actions, uses, and doses.
Some training programs include internships, in which students gain hands-on experience in actual pharmacies. Some online programs offer a certificate and a letter of recommendation after completion. Mentor-ship programs often have better networking recourses to assist in the job search process. In addition students that complete these shorted more individualized and concise courses tend to pass the national certification exams and become certified pharmacy technicians (CPhT)
The traditional classroom type programs often have externship requirements for graduation. These students receive a diploma, a certificate, or an associate's degrees depending on the length of the program. However because these programs are more general and less concise, these students often have difficulty with passing the PTCB or the ExCPT exam. Many of these students also are unable to get their certificate of completion from the school because of the limited externship availability and in local retail pharmacies.
Prospective pharmacy technicians with experience working as an aide in a community pharmacy or volunteering in a hospital may have an advantage. Employers who have insufficient resources to give on-the-job training prefer to hire pharmacy technicians who have completed a course. Employers also prefer candidates who are certified because many pharmacy boards now limit the ratio of Rx techs to pharmacists to 2:1. This ratio may be increased to a ratio of 3:1 if the technicians are certified.
The best option for potential pharmacy technician students is to enroll in an online pharmacy technician training program with mentorship so that they can get the one to one mentoring. These types of programs have a higher rate of success with course completion and passing the national cortication exams.
