Cambridge Who's Who Names Karen Marie Eveland Professional of the Year in Health Care and Education

Ms. Eveland attributes her successful career to her ability to establish client relationships

BACKUS, MN, November 17, 2011 /Medical PR News/ -- Karen Marie Eveland, a Retired Family Nurse Practitioner for the College of St. Scholastica, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in health care and education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

A doctor's suggestion of a program that piqued her interest led Ms. Eveland into a nearly 50-year career in health care. Now a retired family nurse practitioner, she attributes her successful career to her ability to establish client relationships. Since her expertise is vast, covering diabetes, women's health, and pediatrics, she has held a myriad of responsibilities. She has conducted workshops for sixth-graders with sexuality issues, adults with depression and reproduction issues, and seniors with health care issues. She also taught public health for the College of St. Scholastica.

A member of the Minnesota Nurses Association, Ms. Eveland studied nursing in 1962 at the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing. In 2000, more than 30 years later, she earned a master's degree in family practice from The College of St. Scholastica. Although retired, Ms. Eveland hopes to establish a nurse practitioner role in home care in the coming years.
