Sherry Bentley Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Social Work
Ms. Bentley has been selected as a VIP member of 2011-2012
PHOENIX, AZ, November 9, 2011 /Medical PR News/ -- Sherry Bentley, BSW, MA, Social Worker at Paradise Valley Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in crisis counseling.
A social worker at Paradise Valley Hospital for the past 13 years, Ms. Bentley conducts psychosocial assessments and interventions for patients and their families. She is primarily responsible for assisting people during bereavement and crisis situations, advocating for patients, and referring people to community resources for counseling treatment and general social needs. In addition, Ms. Bentley served on the Lincoln Gives committee at John C. Lincoln Hospital, which reviews community grant funding and financial hardship applications from employees. She was on Lincoln Hospital's ambassador committee for the nursing magnet awards for nursing and non-nursing candidates.
Ms. Bentley is proud of her involvement with the international patient service team at John C. Lincoln Hospital, which gave her an opportunity to travel to hospitals in Mexico, advocate for international patients and their families, attend Arizona-Mexico commission conferences, and work with the consulate of Mexico in Arizona. In 2007, she received an Interdisciplinary Exemplar Award from John C. Lincoln Hospital for her role in the development, implementation and direction of this team.
Having worked in the areas of correctional and community services as well as in health care, Ms. Bentley attributes her success to her varied life experiences as well as the support she received from several influential mentors. She chose her profession because of her desire to give back to the community and make a difference in people's lives.
Ms. Bentley earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Ottawa University, located in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1999, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada, in 1985. She is a current member of the National Association of Social Workers and is a former member of the Arizona-Mexico Commission. In 2009, Ms. Bentley not only received an award in recognition of her 10 years of service to Paradise Valley Hospital, but was also nominated for an Interdisciplinary Exemplar Award for Patient Advocacy at John C. Lincoln Hospital. In the years to come, she hopes to focus on international relations and make a difference in the community.
