Color of Teal, Inc. Raises Awareness for Ovarian Cancer
Color of Teal, Inc. officially launched its non-profit organization with a mission to reduce fatalities caused by ovarian cancer.
NEW YORK, NY, January 15, 2012 /Medical PR News/ -- Color of Teal will spread awareness through a network of community events and host an informative Ovarian Cancer Expo on September 29, 2012, that will include a workshop consisting of a panel of gynecologists and gynecological oncologists. Color of Teal's services include a free health screening, distribution of informational literature, and providing education as to the available methods of treatment to women who lack knowledge or may be "at risk" for acquiring this disease.
Ovarian cancer is an insidious disease that affects the female reproductive organs responsible for producing eggs and hormones, and often strikes without warning. It is the leading cause of death amongst all gynecologic cancers in the United States, and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women. It is estimated that in the U.S. alone 21,850, women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and approximately 13,580 women will die from the disease this year alone. Symptoms for the disease are often vague and subtle, and are similar to symptoms of other non cancer conditions that affect women, such as digestive and gastrointestinal disorders, making it difficult to detect.
Over the next several months, Color of Teal will host numerous fund-raising events within the New York City area. "This is a different approach to raising awareness other than a yearly walk. We want to raise awareness in the other remaining months of the year. Not only do we want people to know that ovarian cancer exists, we want it to be remembered" says Genese Valentine, Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
Color of Teal will keep women informed, with up-to-date information regarding cutting edge ovarian cancer treatment, and ovarian cancer causes. Our project provides support to women who have been previously affected by this disease and those who may be affected in the future. Color of Teal expects to generate $100,000.00 through fund-raising. Half of the proceeds raised will go towards facilitating a mobile medical unit for health screening and the other half will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, an organization that is built on finding a cure through advanced medical research.
